Weekly Update, January 24, 2020

January 24 2020

Dear 1B Families,

The focus this week has been penguins!  We took our penguin fact charts and turned them into reports on the computer.  We also made many penguin art projects this week.  The art projects will be displayed at our open house this Sunday, January 26th.

We read more Tacky the Penguin stories this week and reviewed retelling in writing.  In math, we are continuing to work on place value.  In science, we are Environmental Scientist, studying sunlight, water and soil.

The First graders are leading our celebration during Catholic Schools Week in the Parish Hall on Friday, January 31st at 2:00.  We hope you are able to join us. The seating for parents and guests is in chairs in the back and sides.

Important Information:

Operation Warm Feet: 3rd grade is putting on a service project to help the homeless in our community stay warm during this winter season!  Please bring in a new pair of wool socks if you are able, I know Costco has a great selection. 😊  These socks will be donated to the Everett Gospel Mission and Mercy Watch. The drive ends on Friday, January 31.

LOOKING AHEAD:  We need shoe boxes for an art project- February 3

We are also celebrating Groundhog Day on Monday, February 3 and making fun groundhog projects.  Please send your child with a shoe box for this project. We will use the boxes to create groundhog houses.

If you have any extra wrapping paper, wallpaper scraps, “pizza” tables…the little tables they put in the center of the pizza when you get it delivered, etc. (anything to make the box look homey) please send that too. Any small boxes (like matchbox size) are also great. They make wonderful T.V. screens or microwave ovens for our groundhogs. Use your imagination!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

God Bless,

Mrs. Heidi Harris
