Weekly Update, May 18, 2020

Dear 1B Families,

Happy Monday, here are the zoom links for the week and other helpful information.  This week is spirit week, do what you can and what works for you and your family.

This Friday, May 22 is a non-student day!  Your child will not have work to complete in Google Classroom Friday or Monday, 25 because it is a holiday!  Enjoy the long weekend!

Important information:

  • Math: This week we are finishing our addition chapter and starting subtraction.  On Tuesday the first grade will take the addition test, please take a picture of the test and attach it in google classroom or email.
  • Reading:  This week in reading we are continuing to build our reading stamina at home though read to self and working on reading for 30 minutes.  If your child is needing help finding good fit books I encourage you to have them use Raz-Kids and Epic- https://www.getepic.com/students  Class code- xww4940
  • Science: On Wednesday, 5/27, we will take our human body science test.  Please work on the lesson reviews to study this week for the test.
  • Please send photos for Mrs. Mallahan!  She is retiring after 32 years of teaching at St. Mary Magdalen!  To help with her sendoff, we are putting together a video full of thanks for passing her joy and love of reading onto the SMM Community.  Please take a picture of your student or student(s) with their favorite book and send the picture to Melissa Morrier-Turk at MMorrierTurk@stmarym.org by Friday, May 29th. If your student would like to write a note to Mrs. Mallahan or hold up a poster with an affirmation (thanks, you rock, etc.) that would be great as well!  Thank you for helping make this retirement for Mrs. Mallahan a special one!

Again thank you so much for all your help and support and please let me know if you have any questions! 😊

Thank you and God Bless,

Mrs. Heidi Harris

My name is Melissa Morrier-Turk, I am a graduate of SMM (class of 1986) and have been a member of the parish community much of my life. I have a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources from Central Washington University and have spent my 23 years working in this field, traveling all over the USA and Canada as an HR Director, as well as a corporate trainer. My husband Mike and I have two kids, our son is in college and our daughter is a Junior at AMHS. In my off time I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, anything outdoorsy really. I have absolutely loved working with and getting to know so many of the families here at SMM and am looking forward to getting to know you all better as part of your school community!
